Israel rejects UN genocide and sexual violence report as misinformation
Israel rejected a UN report accusing it of genocidal acts and sexual violence in Gaza and the West Bank, calling it a "misinformation campaign" and demanding the commission's dissolution. The Commission of Inquiry report said Israel is "continuing to commit genocidal acts" in Gaza, citing expansion of control from 53% to 60% of the territory since the October 2025 ceasefire and at least 196 Palestinian deaths from Israeli fire. It also detailed alleged sexual assaults by guards on detainees, which Israel denied. Israel has long criticized the commission and denied genocide and sexual assault accusations. The report could be used by prosecutors at the International Criminal Court. The war began with Hamas's October 2023 attack killing 1,200 people, with Israel's campaign killing over 74,000 Palestinians.
