Israeli military launches major West Bank raid days before election
The Israeli military conducted a massive operation in the occupied West Bank over the weekend, displacing hundreds of Palestinians and restricting movement after a gun attack killed two Israeli soldiers in Hebron on Friday. The operation comes days before Israel's election on Tuesday. The military said it operated in over 400 locations, arrested 40 Palestinians affiliated with Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and closed crossings into Israel until after the election. Most Palestinian workers with permits were barred from entering Israeli communities on Sunday and Monday. The operation displaced 200 to 300 families from Deir Bahha and surrounding neighborhoods, with residents navigating closed roads on foot. Six Israelis and 112 Palestinians have been killed in West Bank violence this year, according to officials.
