Israel imposes West Bank lockdown for election day
Israel's military will impose a lockdown across the occupied West Bank during Tuesday's parliamentary election, restricting Palestinian access to settlements and closing border crossings. The move follows a deadly attack near Hebron that killed two Israeli soldiers, prompting an ongoing offensive. Around 2,000 Palestinians have been displaced from their homes in Hebron, with Defense Minister Israel Katz stating they cannot return until issues with Hamas are resolved. Israeli forces have conducted anti-terror operations in roughly 40 areas, arresting dozens of suspects, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad members. The restrictions on Palestinian workers begin Sunday and Monday, with exceptions for industrial zones and limited approved areas.
