Israeli offensive in West Bank displaces hundreds days before election
Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank have displaced hundreds of families, just days before Israel's election. A Hebron shopkeeper claims the offensive is solely aimed at helping Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu win the vote. Around 250 families have been forced from their homes, with some evicted during the night, according to AFP. Israel's defense minister said about 2,000 people were displaced from Hebron, following Friday's shooting that killed two Israeli soldiers. The operation is expected to last several days, with the Hebron governor calling it collective punishment. Tuesday's election is seen as a test for Netanyahu, who faces challenger Gadi Eisenkot amid a heated campaign.
