UN Experts Accuse Israel of Ongoing Genocide in Gaza Despite Ceasefire
A U.N.-commissioned group of independent experts accuses Israel of continuing to commit genocide in Gaza despite a ceasefire, also alleging crimes against humanity in the West Bank. Israel denies the claims and has not yet responded to the report. The Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory says Israeli forces have expanded control from 53% to at least 60% of Gaza since the October 2025 ceasefire, with at least 196 Palestinians killed. The report also details alleged sexual violence against detainees, including specific cases at the Sde Teiman military prison. The findings could be used by prosecutors at the International Criminal Court or other jurisdictions. The ceasefire scaled down a war triggered by Hamas's October 7, 2023 attacks, which killed 1,200 people, while Gaza's Health Ministry reports over 74,000 Palestinian deaths since.
