Israeli military displaces over 1,000 Palestinians in Hebron
The Israeli military forced approximately 1,200 Palestinians from their homes in Hebron on Saturday, following an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers. Palestinian officials condemned the operation as collective punishment. The military said the operation in the Al-Jalantah and Ein Der Baha neighborhoods aims to locate fighters and weapons, and includes building demolitions. Hebron's mayor said 1,300 more residents may lose their homes, and a Palestinian NGO reported about 70 arrests. The operation follows Prime Minister Netanyahu's announcement of a large-scale response to Friday's shooting. The mayor linked the actions to Tuesday's elections, while residents said many displaced people had no connection to the attackers.
