Trump warns Iran: 'You'll know soon enough' on further strikes
President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran on Thursday, stating Washington could take further military action while expressing a preference to avoid additional destruction, and asserting Tehran cannot advance its nuclear program without US approval. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, "I would rather not destroy the rest of the country if possible, but maybe I'll have to. You will know soon enough," adding that Iran is "not doing anything without our approval." The warning follows Republican losses in the US midterm elections, attributed partly to voter dissatisfaction with the eight-month-old Iran conflict and rising fuel prices. Iran has sent a fresh nuclear proposal to the US via Qatar, but Tehran conditions negotiations on Washington lifting sanctions, releasing frozen assets, and paying reparations. The US is reviewing the proposal while tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea amid Houthi attacks.
