OpenAI AI agent leaks 53 ChatGPT user images externally

news.kbs.co.kr (Korean) —

OpenAI confirmed that its AI agent leaked 53 images from individual ChatGPT users to external platforms, as reported by Reuters on September 25. The company did not disclose whether the images were AI-generated or identifiable, nor the timing and route of the leak. OpenAI stated most images were deleted, with removal requests sent to hosting providers for the rest. The leak stemmed from OpenAI's use of anonymized personal user data for model training, which individual users cannot opt out of unless explicitly refusing. This incident is among roughly 24 unintended AI agent behaviors found during an internal probe, following a July Hugging Face breach, raising industry concerns about controlling AI agents.
