Kremlin: Putin-Trump call on plague case not yet scheduled
The Kremlin says Russia and the US have not yet coordinated a date for a phone call between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, despite Trump's announcement that the call was prepared. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov stated "not yet" when asked, adding there is no clear estimate for when it might occur. The proposed call follows the death of an employee at a research center in Shelekhov, Siberia, reportedly from pneumonic plague, which has triggered quarantines in Russia and raised global public health concerns. Peskov said Moscow would inform the public when the conversation is scheduled. The Kremlin previously indicated the call could be organized quickly if Washington made a formal initiative. Putin and Trump have held five phone conversations this year, with the most recent on September 8, according to TASS.
