pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Russia to release more information about the death of a plague laboratory worker in Siberia. He stated that Moscow is obligated to share additional details with the world regarding the incident. Rubio noted that the United States has the means to help Russia if the situation proves more serious than currently acknowledged, but Washington needs more information before intervening. He said the U.S. is monitoring the incident very closely. Russian media reported that Darya Shipilova, who worked at a plague research institute in Irkutsk, broke a test tube containing the pneumonic plague pathogen on September 25. She was hospitalized on September 29 and died on October 1-2, prompting local authorities to quarantine nearly 200 people. The White House and European Commission have also said they are monitoring the situation, and President Donald Trump has offered assistance.
