Trump to Discuss Siberian Plague Case with Putin
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he has scheduled a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss a possible plague case at a Siberian research institute. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said he would address the matter with Putin "very soon." Health authorities are investigating after an institute employee died from pneumonia of unknown etiology. Trump noted U.S. intelligence agencies are conducting "very thorough discussions" on the case, with more details possibly available as early as Wednesday. On Monday, Trump offered U.S. assistance to Russia, describing the disease as serious and noting that microbes have become stronger. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday that Russia should provide more information about the lab worker's death last week.
