Trump to Discuss Siberian Plague Researcher's Death with Putin

adevarul.ro (Romanian) —

President Donald Trump announced he intends to speak "very soon" with Vladimir Putin about the death of a researcher at a Siberian plague institute, whose case raised concerns about a possible pneumonic plague infection. The researcher, 28-year-old Daria Shipilova, died on October 2 after falling ill in late September. Russian health authorities attributed her death to pneumonia of unknown origin and denied any link to her laboratory work, though an initial regional official statement suggested plague was possible. Russia has informed the World Health Organization that no plague case was identified in Irkutsk, and tests on roughly 200 contacts were negative. Unconfirmed reports of a lab accident involving a pathogen container have been denied by Russian authorities.
