Trump questions Russia plague outbreak as possible bioweapon
President Donald Trump said the world will "find out soon enough" whether a reported plague outbreak in Russia stems from a bioweapon, while noting Kremlin officials claim they have it under control. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Trump drew parallels between Russia's limited public statements and China's early handling of Covid-19. He said US officials do not currently believe it is a bioweapon but could not provide a definitive answer. The outbreak follows the death of bio-lab worker Darya Shipilova, 28, after a test tube broke at an Irkutsk research institute. Five hospitals and over 200 contacts have been quarantined, with former CDC head Dr Robert Redfield speculating the disease may be "manipulated."
