JPMorgan to lead Anthropic's US retail IPO share sale
Anthropic PBC has selected JPMorgan Chase & Co. to lead US sales of shares to individual investors in its potentially record-setting initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter. The company behind Claude has considered allocating about 15% to 20% of the IPO shares to retail investors. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is expected to participate in the bank's retail campaign, which will target high-net-worth clients and broker platforms. Citigroup will coordinate the international retail offering, covering markets including Australia, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and the UK. The company filed publicly on Monday for the listing, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading the offering. Investors have estimated Anthropic's fair valuation at roughly $1.4 trillion to $1.5 trillion, with a potential high of $1.75 trillion. The IPO follows massive AI funding efforts, including Meta's plan to raise up to $98 billion and Alphabet's $85 billion equity raise, amid heightened scrutiny over AI safety.
