European Governments Brace for New Wave of Protests
European governments are preparing for further protests after violent demonstrations erupted in several cities, while activists are already mobilizing for new rallies. France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Albania are taking precautionary measures. In Paris, new marches against living costs are planned for Saturday, prompting the government to deploy soldiers from the anti-terror Operation Sentinelle for guard duties and increase police numbers. Italy has registered 250 planned actions, with authorities monitoring social media and stationing 500 soldiers in Milan. Germany expects demonstrations in 21 cities on October 31, with federal police instructed to turn back potentially violent individuals at borders. Protests continue in Portugal over housing costs, while in Albania, opposition leader Sali Berisha has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of preparing a "destabilization plan."
