US Intelligence Warns of Russian Drone Plans for France, Spain, and Italy

US intelligence has gathered information indicating Russia is preparing new drone attacks targeting Mediterranean countries, including France, Spain, and Italy, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo. The information has been shared with several European governments. The reported shift in focus moves from Northern European countries to the Mediterranean region. Sources say Russia would use sea-launched drones hidden in containers, specifically the Gerbera model, which is about two meters long, weighs up to 18 kilograms, and can reach speeds of 160 kilometers per hour with a range of 600 kilometers. A merchant ship could transport multiple such drones, which are reportedly easier to launch than Shahed or Geran models. The report follows recent incidents including drone attacks at Leipzig airport and near the Poland-Ukraine border, with Germany accusing Moscow and closing its consulate.
