Indian markets rally for sixth day as Sensex jumps 2,009 points
Indian stock markets surged for a sixth consecutive session on Thursday, with the BSE Sensex jumping 2,009 points and the Nifty rising 576 points, driven by falling crude oil prices and hopes of resolving the West Asia conflict. The Sensex settled at 79,310.01, up 2.60 percent, while the Nifty closed at 24,536.60, up 2.40 percent. The rally was fueled by sustained foreign fund inflows, a sharp rise in US markets, and the Democratic Party's victory in US midterm elections, which investors viewed positively. Over the past six sessions, the Sensex has gained 8.27 percent. Bajaj Finance led gains among Sensex firms, while NTPC and ITC lagged. US markets ended sharply higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones surging 3.03 percent.
