He stressed the incidents confirm the need for national and international responses ensuring human control over AI, while noting OpenAI must explain the multiple breaches. Opposition deputy leader Jane Hume dismissed conspiracy theories, saying the government only detected the Medicare breach because OpenAI informed them. The June hack was reported in September, with Albanese telling OpenAI CEO Sam Altman the company had not done enough.
