UK diesel hits record 199.18p per litre as Iran conflict drives fuel costs

UK diesel prices have reached an all-time high of 199.18p per litre, according to the RAC, driven by soaring fuel costs from the US-Israel war with Iran. Petrol also rose to 174.13p per litre. The seven-month conflict has disrupted wholesale oil production and transport across the region, pushing up fuel prices. The previous diesel record was 199.09p in June 2022, and filling a family car now costs £110, £31 more than before the war. RAC policy head Simon Williams warned the record "spells pain" for drivers and consumers, as higher costs for diesel lorries and vans will likely be passed on. He said prices will only fall after a sustained lower oil price lasting several weeks.
