Stock Market Live: GIFT Nifty signals weak open; Kospi falls 2%; Brent rises on US-Iran tension
Indian stock market futures pointed to a weak opening for the Nifty50 on Monday, with GIFT Nifty down 69 points at 23,118.50, as rising oil prices and global declines weighed on sentiment. Most Asian markets fell in early trading, with South Korea's Kospi dropping 2.07% and China's CSI 300 losing 1.24%, driven by higher energy costs and expectations of further US Federal Reserve rate hikes. Brent crude rose over 1% to $106 per barrel after Iran maintained its seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without a clear US response, while gold and silver futures declined. Several initial public offers opened or continued subscription on Monday, including SRIT India and Shah Investor's Home, while Snapdeal and other issues entered their second day. US stocks had closed higher on Friday, with the Dow up 0.93% and S&P 500 up 0.51%.
