Ted Cruz warns of 'blue tsunami' after Republican losses in Texas midterms
Republican Senator Ted Cruz, a Trump ally, is sounding the alarm about a "blue tsunami" in the midterm elections, admitting Republicans lost everything, including in his home state of Texas. In a post on X and his podcast, Cruz said 2026 was a devastating defeat comparable to Watergate, noting Democrats secured both the governorship and the other Senate seat in traditionally Republican Texas. He cited rising living costs, including high gas and food prices, tariffs, and the Iran conflict as the main reasons voters rejected Republican candidates. Cruz, who was not up for election this year, said Republican, libertarian, and independent voters showed up but voted for Democrats instead. He was a bitter rival of Trump in 2016 but has since become one of his most loyal congressional supporters.
