Democrats Win Arizona Trifecta for First Time Since 1966
Democrats have won control of both chambers of Arizona's legislature and retained the governor's office, securing their first trifecta in the state since 1966. The party also took control of both chambers of Congress nationwide. Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs, who previously vetoed over 540 Republican-backed bills on taxes, immigration, and voting laws, now faces a legislature aligned with her agenda. She plans to address water issues, affordability, and fraud in the school voucher program. The Associated Press confirmed the legislative flips on Friday. Republicans had held Arizona's House for 60 years and the Senate since the early 1990s. Democrats also achieved full control in Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Wisconsin, and flipped the Texas House, though they lost the Texas governor's race.
