Zelensky: US withheld $16B in agreed aid to Ukraine

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has not received $16 billion in US aid previously agreed upon, and that Kyiv must fight to secure these funds. In an interview with TSN, Zelensky said the $16 billion from past agreements and decisions was halted and not delivered. He expressed gratitude for received assistance but insisted Ukraine should pursue the outstanding amount, while also stressing the need for effective dialogue with the new US political structure and bipartisan support. Zelensky earlier hoped for increased US aid after Democratic gains in the November 3 midterm elections. Reuters reported on November 5 that Democratic control of both Congressional chambers could restore direct financial and military assistance, potentially overcoming a presidential veto with a two-thirds majority.
