Arizona Democrats Win First Trifecta in 60 Years
Democrats in Arizona won control of both legislative chambers and retained the governor’s office, securing the party’s first trifecta in the state since 1966 amid major national gains in this week’s elections. Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, who had vetoed over 540 Republican-led measures on taxes, immigration, and voting laws, now faces a Legislature aligned with her priorities on water issues, affordability, and school voucher fraud. The Associated Press confirmed the flips on Friday. Democrats took full control in at least six states, including Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Wisconsin, and flipped the Texas House, electing Gina Hinojosa as governor. The National Council of State Legislatures expects this to be the largest legislative shift since 2010.
