Tesla to stream Roadster event Thursday with thruster demo
Tesla will stream its next-generation Roadster event Thursday, October 15, at 7:55 pm Central, two weeks late and nearly nine years after the car's initial reveal, with the focus on a thruster demonstration rather than a production vehicle. The event, originally scheduled for October 1 in Texas, was postponed due to weather, as it must be held outdoors. The demo reportedly features a remote-operated, non-street-legal car using SpaceX cold gas thrusters for a short hover, following at least six production delays and seven postponed unveiling dates since the 2017 prototype. Tesla has not delivered a single Roadster since promising production in 2020, with the latest timeline pushing manufacturing to 2027 or 2028. The company has also filed a patent for a fan-car system to create a vacuum, potentially hinting at upside-down driving stunts.
