Tesla opens Roadster bookings in India; Model Y L gets free Acceleration Boost
Tesla has opened reservations for its new Roadster in India, with production slated to begin in 2028. The company also announced a complimentary Acceleration Boost upgrade for its six-seater Model Y L SUV. The Roadster, initially available only in left-hand-drive, draws design inspiration from the SR-71 aircraft and F-35 fighter jet. Tesla says it will surpass the performance of its Plaid models and incorporate SpaceX components, though no price has been specified. The Model Y L upgrade cuts its 0-100 kmph time to 4.5 seconds. Tesla prices the Model Y at ₹50.89 lakh and the Model Y L at ₹61.99 lakh in India. The company operates 20 Supercharger and 28 Destination Charger stalls in the country, with three more sites planned by the end of 2026.
