Tesla Roadster unveiled: Musk's rocket-powered sports car flies and hits 100 km/h in 0.81 seconds
Elon Musk unveiled the new Tesla Roadster on Thursday, a sports car featuring cold-gas thrusters that can fly short distances, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 0.81 seconds. The production model is expected to be even faster. The presentation in Waco, Texas, included a mid-air roll maneuver and a demonstration of the car hanging upside down from a ramp using its suction system. Musk announced the Roadster will be the last Tesla model driven by humans, with production slated for 2028. The car will cost around 250,000 euros, while the "Rocket" variant will be invitation-only due to flight restrictions on public roads. Musk, who also leads SpaceX, has long faced speculation about merging his two companies.
