Tesla Roadster flying car unveiled at SpaceX event in US
Elon Musk unveiled the Tesla Roadster, the company's first flying car, at SpaceX headquarters in the US, where the vehicle performed a controlled flight during its launch event. The car ascended a curved ramp, flew, and landed using its rocket thrusters. The Roadster also jumped over five parked vehicles and performed a mid-air spin. The Rocket variant accelerates from 0 to nearly 100 km/h in under 0.59 seconds, with other versions offering slightly slower times. Tesla says the car will exceed 370 km/h and have over 480 kilometers of range, with production planned for 2028. The event took place before fans who paid $250,000 to reserve the car nine years ago, following years of delays since the prototype's 2017 debut. Musk touted the collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, which analysts see as a signal of his ambition to merge the two companies.
