U.S. intelligence chief warns Iran has stepped up plots against Americans

U.S. Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton warned on Friday that Iran has "substantially increased" efforts to target Americans in the Middle East and beyond, with lethal plotting reaching advanced stages. The warning follows Washington's order for non-essential embassy staff and families to leave Saudi Arabia this week, amid near-daily Houthi attacks on the kingdom, including a deadly strike on Riyadh's airport. Clayton's memo to Secretary of State Marco Rubio cited intelligence on threats to U.S. personnel. President Donald Trump suggested renewed military operations against Iran, referencing "another little Epic Fury," without specifying timing. The conflict began in late February with U.S.-Israeli attacks that killed Iran's supreme leader and senior commanders.
