Rubio urges Cubans to cooperate with CIA, warns Cuba after Iran
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Cubans on Friday to discreetly cooperate with the CIA to remove the communist regime, saying "now is the time" for positive change in Cuba. Rubio accused Cuban officials of corruption and privileged lives while failing citizens, and the CIA subsequently posted a Spanish-language video advising Cubans on secure methods to contact the agency, including in-person visits or encrypted online submissions. Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio mocked the recruitment appeal, suggesting desperation within the agency. President Donald Trump separately hinted at military action against Cuba, saying US warships returning from the Middle East could stop near the island, prompting Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez to warn of inhospitable coastal defenses against hostile intentions.
