Trump's remarks followed a statement by US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack, who said a strike on Iran could occur "absolutely" as early as this weekend. Trump later claimed he was unaware of any such plan, while Barrack emphasized the president remains open to negotiations. The threats occur ahead of US midterm elections in early November. In February, US and Israeli forces conducted "Operation Epic Fury," killing Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Trump also cited "Operation Midnight Hammer" as having obliterated Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity.
