Iran blames US for failed deal, urges renewed talks as attack fears grow
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian blamed Washington for the collapse of an interim deal to end the war with the US and Israel, urging both sides to return to negotiations amid fears fighting could resume imminently. US President Donald Trump said Friday he "may do another little Epic Fury," referencing the US-Israeli war against Iran that began February 28. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned even limited strikes would trigger a response "several times greater," while Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdollahi said US forces would not be allowed in the Gulf "under any circumstances." Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu face elections, with Israelis voting Tuesday and US midterms on November 3. Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Tehran "seeks peace but will respond to any aggression with severe consequences," as Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who replaced his assassinated father, has not appeared publicly since March.
