Iran plans strikes on Persian Gulf undersea cables if attacked, Reuters reports
Iran has developed detailed plans to strike undersea telecommunications cables in the Persian Gulf if attacked by the US or Israel, according to Reuters, citing two senior Iranian security officials. The officials did not specify where or how such strikes would occur, but one said Tehran would also try to hinder cable repairs to prolong internet and communication outages. A source stated there would be "no red lines" if Iran is attacked, from undersea cables to secret military bases. Earlier, a Revolutionary Guards official warned Iran could target seven major internet cables near the Strait of Hormuz, though experts note less than 1% of global telecom capacity passes through that area. Separately, Financial Times reported Iran has discussed striking US forces in Europe in response to potential escalation.
