US media coalition backs CNN, MSNBC, and Politico in White House access lawsuit

More than 50 US media organizations have filed a joint court brief supporting CNN, MSNBC, and Politico in their lawsuit against the Trump administration over their exclusion from the White House. The presiding judge has already expressed doubts about the government's actions. The media outlets argue the accreditation revocations violate First Amendment press freedom and Fifth Amendment due process guarantees, as they were not given adequate notice or a chance to defend themselves. The White House defends the move as a privilege, citing national security and professional standards, while the judge noted procedural requirements were likely not met. The judge, Timothy Kelly, previously ruled in favor of CNN's Jim Acosta in a similar 2018 case. He indicated he would decide quickly, and the dispute has already disrupted White House pool coverage, as other networks suspended their participation in solidarity with CNN.
