Judge questions legality of Trump's ban on three news outlets
A federal judge ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump's ban on White House access for CNN, MSNBC, and Politico is likely unconstitutional, issuing a 14-day order requiring the administration to restore their press credentials. Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the U.S. District Court in Washington stated the outlets would likely succeed in their claim that the White House violated their due process rights by revoking credentials without notice or a hearing. He also rejected the administration's national security justification for the ban. Trump announced the ban on September 19, accusing the outlets of spreading fake news. The three news organizations sued to regain access, while other major networks and newspapers, including Fox News, boycotted official events in protest.
