Judge blocks Trump's White House media ban, orders access restored
A federal judge ordered President Donald Trump on Thursday to restore White House access for journalists from CNN, MSNBC and Politico, ruling the ban was likely unconstitutional. US District Judge Tim Kelly issued the order in a lawsuit filed by the outlets after the September 18 ban, rejecting national security justifications and noting Trump cited "alleged lack of truthfulness and negativity" in their reporting. The judge ordered press passes immediately returned and blocked enforcement for 14 days. The outlets sued Monday, claiming First Amendment and due process violations. A coalition of press freedom groups and news organizations, including Reuters and Fox News, supported them. The case comes weeks before the November 3 midterm elections.
