iPhone Duo durability tests reveal hinge and screen weaknesses
Durability tests of Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, have revealed significant weaknesses, prompting warnings for owners to handle the device with extreme care. YouTube expert Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything found the device failed his standard tests. Burying the phone in sand and dirt caused debris to enter the hinge, preventing it from closing fully. Additionally, bending the internal AMOLED display against its natural fold direction resulted in visible green and white lines and permanent screen damage. While the external screen showed no major flaws and the nano-texture coating can hide scratches, the internal display proved fragile. Nelson noted most foldable phones survive his tests, but the iPhone Duo did not. Given the high cost of replacing the display and other components, users should exercise caution in everyday situations like beach visits.
