iPhone Duo durability test reveals hinge and display weaknesses
Apple's $2,000 iPhone Duo can be destroyed by a wrong bend or heavy dirt exposure, according to a JerryRigEverything durability test, potentially requiring $1,000 in repairs. The test showed the hinge fails to close completely after intense sand and soil exposure, despite Apple's IP68 dust and water rating, highlighting a weak point for beach use. Bending the device against its folding direction did not snap it, but permanently damaged the AMOLED display. Unlike most Samsung foldables that survive similar tests, the iPhone Duo's hinge proved vulnerable to debris, though its nano-texture display cover hides scratches better than competitors. Apple learned from Android rivals, but foldables remain inherently less robust than traditional smartphones.
