Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes to file 400 lawsuits over school blockade damage
Student protests continued Friday in France, marked by violence and damage. In response, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region announced it will file over 400 lawsuits and may suspend regional aid for those involved in the unrest. Regional President Fabrice Pannekoucke estimated the damage from the school blockades at between 25 and 30 million euros. Special advisor Laurent Wauquiez stated that taxpayers should not bear the cost, and the region will systematically seek compensation through the courts. The region also plans to halt all regional aid, including transport passes and school meal subsidies, for perpetrators and their families. Additionally, 22 regional agents and their families have been relocated due to threats or assaults.
