US orders some diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia as Houthi attacks kill three
The US State Department has ordered some diplomats and their families to leave Saudi Arabia as Houthi attacks escalate, with three people killed in recent strikes across the country. Saudi authorities reported two deaths from debris of an intercepted drone targeting an oil field, and one death from a strike at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, where eight others were injured. The State Department cited Iranian-supported Houthi hostilities against civilian infrastructure and warned of rapid escalation potential. The conflict follows the collapse of a four-year informal ceasefire in July, with Houthis retaliating against a Saudi blockade and an air strike on Sanaa airport. Their maritime embargo in the Bab al-Mandab Strait has also contributed to global oil price surges.
