Trump Says US Will Address Cuba After Iran, Sends Rubio to Finalize Deal
President Donald Trump said Friday the United States would "take care of Cuba" after dealing with Iran and would send Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finish the deal, speaking at a rally in Fort Myers, Florida. Trump predicted last month that the US and Cuba would reach an agreement and that military action would likely be unnecessary. The administration has long stated its goal is to change Cuba's communist government, and Washington has maintained an embargo on Cuba for over 60 years. A US-imposed oil blockade earlier this year has caused severe fuel shortages and blackouts in Cuba, exacerbated by failing infrastructure. Cuba's foreign minister told the UN General Assembly last month that Cuba remains open to dialogue with Washington.
