Iran says seven ships ablaze near Strait of Hormuz

di.se (Swedish) —

At least seven ships are on fire in or near the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy, as reported by Tehran media. The Guard claims it attacked four vessels moving oil between tankers in the northern Persian Gulf, while three others struck mines in the strait. It reiterated warnings to shipping companies about illegal fuel routes. Fossil fuel transport has been severely hampered since the US and Israel began war against Iran last winter. Oil prices rose following new attacks in Saudi Arabia, though export flows through the strait are increasing.
