Netanyahu orders IDF and Mossad to pursue overthrow of Iran's regime
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Wednesday he has directed the IDF, Mossad, and security branches to pursue the overthrow of Iran's regime, calling it the only way to eliminate Tehran's nuclear threat. Netanyahu stated Iran resumed its nuclear program after Operation Rising Lion, prompting the joint Israeli-U.S. Operation Roaring Lion, whose opening strike killed former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He accused his successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, of continuing the nuclear effort and claimed U.S. President Donald Trump supports toppling the regime. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that "Iran will burn" if it attacks Israel, citing Tehran's weakness and potential pre-election provocations ahead of Oct. 27 Knesset elections. Trump touted the strikes as stopping Iran's nuclear weapon program, while saying negotiations are not ongoing and a resolution will come "fairly soon."
