Trump cheers German far-right win: 'Make Germany Great Again'

He praised the result as a rejection of "absolutely terrible" immigration rules. Trump posted on Truth Social that Germans are "sick of" immigration regulations that have "hit Germany so badly," adding the acronym MGGA, meaning "Make Germany Great Again." The AfD, now the main opposition in Germany's largest economy, won nearly 44% of votes versus 17% for Chancellor Friedrich Merz's CDU. The result was seen as a political earthquake, marking the first time the far right is close to power in a German state since 1945. Trump allies, including Elon Musk, also congratulated the AfD, with Musk writing "Gut gemacht!" in German.
