Protests spread across Lower Saxony after AfD's Saxony-Anhalt win

Following the AfD's election victory in Saxony-Anhalt, protests continue in Lower Saxony, with around 2,000 people demonstrating in Hanover on Wednesday. The demonstrations respond to the success of the state branch, classified as definitely right-wing extremist. In Hanover, the "Freundeskreis Hannover" association called for a rally at the New Town Hall to promote democracy, diversity, and solidarity. A separate group has occupied Weißekreuzplatz since Sunday, with the occupation planned until Saturday. In Bleckede, 2,200 people protested against an AfD visit by co-leader Alice Weidel. Further protests occurred in Göttingen and Osnabrück, drawing 500 and 450 participants respectively. Rallies are also planned for Lingen and Oldenburg later this week.
