Tens of thousands rally against far-right extremism in Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated against right-wing extremism in Berlin, Munich, and Düsseldorf a week before Berlin's elections, advocating for democracy, human rights, and social justice. In Berlin, police reported about 13,000 participants in a march to the Red Town Hall, with around 100 organizations calling for the rally under the slogan "Time for change." Munich saw roughly 12,000 attendees, four times the initial registration, while Düsseldorf drew about 20,000 people, double the expected number, under the motto "Not a step back! Against the AfD and right-wing hate." The protests were part of a nationwide campaign demanding that parties classified as suspected or confirmed right-wing extremist by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution be reviewed by the Federal Constitutional Court. Smaller demonstrations also occurred in Mainz, Bremen, Cottbus, Dresden, Erfurt, Hamburg, Magdeburg, and Potsdam, following the AfD's historic victory in Saxony-Anhalt's state election on September 6.
