Migrant entrepreneurs in Saxony-Anhalt weigh leaving after AfD election win

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) won the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, prompting fears among migrant residents and business owners who are now considering leaving the region. Kebab shop owner Renaz Shaker, a Syrian who arrived in 2014, says uncertainty is causing stress and that he will leave if conditions worsen. A friend with a cleaning company is already relocating to Bavaria. Another Syrian, Kamel Al Hamed, plans to move to Bremen because his wife is regularly insulted, despite holding German citizenship. The AfD plans "deportation from the first minute," targeting 150-200 key administrative posts and proposing measures like segregated classes for asylum-seeker children. Before the election, around ten migrant families were already leaving the state weekly, a concern given that a quarter of its doctors lack German passports.
