AfD win in Saxony-Anhalt raises fears among queer people

The German association Queer Diversity (LSVD+) warns that the AfD's election victory in Saxony-Anhalt could worsen the difficult situation for queer and other marginalized groups in Germany. The group says hard-won human rights are being actively threatened. LSVD+ board member Alva Träbert stated that people in Saxony-Anhalt already report a noticeable shift in the social climate, with misanthropic positions now openly supported. Many queer individuals, people with racist experiences, immigration backgrounds, or disabilities increasingly face rejection and open hatred in daily life. The association calls for solidarity among democratic civil society, urging everyone to shape and defend a diverse democratic society. Träbert noted that many are asking where they can safely be themselves without exclusion, threats, and persecution.
