Düsseldorf to Host Anti-Far-Right Demonstration on September 12

Several organizations are holding a demonstration in Düsseldorf on Saturday, September 12, under the motto "No step back! Against the AfD and right-wing agitation." Organizers expect around 10,000 participants, with the march starting at 14:00 at Immermannhof near the main train station and concluding at Rheinpark Golzheim. The protest is a short-notice response to the AfD's electoral success in Saxony-Anhalt last Sunday. Speakers have not yet been finalized due to the rapid organization. Christine Brinkmann from Prüf-NRW stated the goal is to set a sign for freedom and democracy, advocating for parties to be examined for unconstitutionality. Oliver Ongaro from the alliance "Düsseldorf stellt sich quer" hopes the demonstration sends a signal of solidarity against growing right-wing extremist narratives seen across Europe. Heinrich Fucks from Düsseldorfer Appell emphasized that taking to the streets together helps people remain active in their own environments after the demonstration.
