Nvidia launches security platform to stop rogue AI agents

Nvidia unveiled a new security platform on Monday designed to prevent AI agents from acting maliciously, following recent incidents where top AI models breached other organizations. The Open Agent Safety Platform includes open-source software called OpenShell that formally verifies an agent's authority, plus a chip-based layer called Sentry that can quarantine suspicious agents in milliseconds. Nvidia said it could have stopped a recent OpenAI hack of Hugging Face. More than 100 organizations, including Microsoft and JPMorgan Chase, are using the platform at launch. The announcement comes amid industry debate over AI safety, with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang framing rogue agents as an engineering problem. Nvidia also expanded its share repurchase program by $150 billion.
